Activities, Events and Staff Movements

Brisbane

Nexia Brisbane is pleased to announce the promotion of Brian Gebauers to Practice Manager, as one of their directors, Malcolm Mathews, transitions towards retirement.

Brian started his career as an IT Consultant in Nexia New Zealand and has now completed a full circle working for Nexia Brisbane. Brian brings a wealth of international business experience to the role and they are happy he’s back with the Nexia family.

Our Brisbane office recently co-hosted two seminars with Elliott and Harvey Lawyers (a local law firm) with guest panellist Graeme Page (Queens Council) . Both had a great turnout with over 75 attendees at each event.

Christchurch

Our Christchurch office has recently welcomed seven new starters, with four appointments in their expanding audit team, two new joiners in business advisory, and one in administration. They also welcomed two graduates and two summer interns in November, and one of these interns has now accepted a graduate role for 2022.

As well as growing the team, Christchurch are also transitioning their firm to next generation cloud-based technology, removing all physical servers. From April, Xero Practice Manager will replace APS as their practice management system, and FYI Docs will replace Virtual Cabinet as their document management platform.

Melbourne

Our Melbourne firm commenced 2021 with the opportunity to return to the office. After close to 12 months of remote working, Melbourne has welcomed the opportunity to be able to collaborate face to face once again.

Returning to the office has also meant the team can now meet with clients face to face. Although technology has allowed the firm to sustain the high level of service that we are proud of, there is still something to be said for meeting in person.

As the firm continues to grow, so too does the team. Joining the Melbourne Team we have Samantha Bunn (Business Trainee) in Shared Services, Ang Sun (Intermediate Advisor) in Business Advisory, Nancy Lau (Senior Manager) in Audit and Assurance, Matthew Coster (Graduate Auditor) in Audit and Assurance) and Nasir Raza (Undergraduate Advisor) in Business Advisory.
